Adventure seekers, are you ready? In Summer 2020, Ottawa-Gatineau will be the home of the first-ever interprovincial zipline. This new attraction is sure to bring locals and tourists alike to enjoy this unique activity.
Imagine zip-lining 120ft above the river line from Gatineau to Ottawa. The zipline will stretch close to 1400 ft long. As you soar through the sky you’ll get a unique 360 viewpoint of popular attractions like Parliament Hill, Chaudiere Falls, Zibi, and downtown Gatineau.
The adventure will start and end at the waterfront community, Zibi, on the Gatineau side of the Ottawa River.
Skyline Ziplines, has been brought on to create this new interprovincial zipline. They are a world leader in the creation and operation of ziplines, found in 22 countries around the world.
I had the pleasure of attending today’s press conference as a guest of Outaouais Tourism for the big announcement. Mayor Jim Watson shared, “This first interprovincial zip line will be a great addition to the National Capital Region; one that will undoubtedly pique the attention of visitors from around the world. It’s a wonderful symbol of Ottawa and Gatineau working closely on many projects, and I’m very pleased that we could help deliver on this great initiative that will benefit our tourism industry and its members.”
The interprovincial zipline further highlights the unique relationship and proximity of Ottawa-Gatineau and connects Ontario and Quebec in a new way.
Caroline Proulx, Minister of Tourism for the Government of Quebec shared, “This new zip line is an ingenious way to bring Ontarians and the rest of Canada into the Outaouais, confirming and reinforcing the region’s status as one of the main gateways to Quebec. In addition to being an additional asset that promises to attract more tourists to our region, this bold project will diversify the region’s offer of activities and contribute to Quebec’s influence. I salute the creativity of the promoters and their partners for this out-of-the-ordinary concept that will impress and give a unique experience to visitors from here and abroad.”
