Things You can Do At Fitzroy Provincial Park
Fitzroy Provincial Park is the perfect distance to be close to Ottawa but still be able to disconnect in nature. It has beautiful trails and a wonderful beach you’ll want to lounge and swim at all day long. It’s also a great place to spot wildlife. We were so lucky to see a mother deer and her two baby fawns on the trail. We made sure to keep our distance and give them space to pass and admire from afar. Below is a quick shot I got (zoomed in on my camera). They also have canoes for rent if you’re interested in heading out on the water. Here are some highlights to add to your visit:

Day Use or Camping at Fitzroy Provincial Park
Only 40 minutes from downtown Ottawa, Fitzroy Provincial Park is the perfect spot to head for the day. Day use is on a first come first serve basis so I recommend heading earlier in the day and making the most of your time.
Fitzroy Provincial Park has car camping and group camping. Enjoy over 200 campsites in two campgrounds; Pine Grove and Two Rivers. There are even waterside campsites available. Book your campsite in advance here.
Spend A Day At The Beach at Fitzroy Provincial Park
Looking for a spot to swim for the day? Get a day permit (or seasonals pass) and head here. There are two wonderful beaches with plenty of room to swim in clear water or lounge on the beach. Families were enjoying playing frisbee on the grass and making sandcastles in the sand. You can also rent a canoe and head out on the water.

Canoeing at Fitzroy Provincial Park
Glide along the water on a canoe and explore the Ottawa River. Rent a canoe or kayak on-site or bring your own.
Hiking at Fitzroy Provincial Park
Carp Trail, 1km, Easy
An easy and scenic trail that will take you along the banks of the Carp River and through a mature forest. It’s an easy trail and you’ll get beautiful views along the way. We ran into a woman on this trail who also told us she ran into another deer so definitely a great spot if you want to see wildlife.

Terrace Trail, 2 km, Moderate
This trial will take you on a geological journey. Step back in time as you see massive boulders left by glaciers. Keep your eye out for the 100-year-old white pines.
