From yoga on rooftop, beach, museum, brewery, with puppies and more, there are so many ways to enjoy yoga in Ottawa. Mark these dates in your calendar for your next yoga session:
Puppy Yoga
August 25th at 1:30 or 3:30 pm
Yoga in Ottawa, puppies and a good cause sounds like a great afternoon to me! Join Inner Soul Yoga & Cycle and Ottawa Dog Rescue on August 25th for puppy yoga. Join them at 1:30 pm or 3 pm for a full hour of yoga as puppies bounce around the room. The minimum donation to participate is $25/person. Make sure to register in advance.
Parliament Hill Yoga
Wednesdays at 12:15 pm until August 28th
Hundreds of yogi’s come together on Parliament Hill every week in summer for this session of Yoga in Ottawa. Enjoy a free one-hour session with Parliament Hill as your backdrop. Make sure to bring a mat and water with you. Refuel with your friends afterward on a patio on Sparks Street.
Beach Yoga
Every Thursday at noon until August 29th
Enjoy an express class of yoga Thursdays at noon at Westboro Beach. Each class is 45 minutes and has a 20-person limit so make sure to reserve your spot here. Cost is $10 with a portion donated to Mealshare, a cause that helps feed youth in need.
Stand-Up Paddleboard Yoga
Multiple Dates
Expand your practice by trying it on a stand-up paddleboard with Paddlefit. This is a great way to test your balance and enjoy some time on the water. They have multiple levels from beginner to advanced.
Rooftop Yoga
Fridays at noon until August 30th
Join the National Arts Centre on their rooftop for a free one-hour of yoga in Ottawa on their outdoor rooftop terrace. You can access it via the Southam Hall Amphitheatre. This class is a drop-in for all skill and experience levels. Looks like rain? Not to worry, yoga will continue in the NAC Canal Lobby. Make sure to participate on August 23rd and August 31st. Yoga in the Park
Saturdays at 9:45 am until August 31st.
Head to the Parkdale Market for an hour of yoga in Ottawa at Parkdale Park hosted by PranaShanti Yoga Centre. The classes are free and all ages/levels are welcome. Make sure to bring your yoga mat. They’ll be there rain or shine.
Hendrick Farm
Saturdays at 8 am until August 31st
Enjoy yoga and meditation with the beautiful backdrop of Hendrick Farm. The sessions are led by residents Hendrick Farm residents Gesa Harmston and Louise Picard on Saturday mornings at 8 am until August 31st. The cost is $15 per class and attendees should bring cash with them when attending.
Laughter Yoga
August 31/Sept 1 at 10:30 am
JoyFest is all about taking a break to sing, dance, drum, make art, or just kick back and enjoy the spell-binding music happening all around you. Both days of the festival kick off with a session of laughter yoga in Ottawa. This practice includes prolonged voluntary laughter throughout the session. The instructor, Genevieve, studied this type of yoga in India and fell in love with the practice. You can see a full festival schedule here.
Yoga Fest Chelsea
September 7th-8th
Enjoy a weekend full of yoga at this festival. You can join sessions for different types of yoga, SUP yoga on Meech Lake and more. End the night with a party under a tent.
Museum of Nature
Yoga Morning of September 14th
The best part of this yoga session is that its the morning after an adult sleepover at the Canadian Museum of Nature! Enjoy a night at the museum complete with a 3 course dinner, music, flashlight tours, scotch-tasting, cool science, and a sleepover among dinosaurs or other exhibits. Wake up in the morning for a yoga session under the giant moon in the Queen’s Lantern before a healthy breakfast! It’s a one-of-a-kind experience. Make sure to buy your ticket in advance here.
Full Moon Yoga
September 14th at 9 pm
Head to Landsdowne for a free hour of yoga under the full moon. The classes are open to all levels. Some mats we’ll be available but its recommended to bring your own if you can. Moonlit class.
Yoga On Tap
November 16th at 1:30 pm
Yoga on Tap combines two great things – yoga and beer. Their next event is on November 16th at Beyond the Pale Brewing. Enjoy practicing yoga in front of where all the brewing magic happens before choosing one of the awesome beers on tap at the brewery. Your ticket includes the yoga session and a beer. Make sure to bring ID, a yoga mat, water bottle, and comfortable clothes.
